Good Morning Farmington Families,

As you know, our district has been navigating significant financial challenges this year. Since July, we have been working diligently to assess inherited concerns, stabilize operations, and make responsible decisions to ensure we can continue serving students through the end of the school year. From the initial budget freeze to the recent midyear staffing adjustments, every step has been taken with students at the center.

At this time, all affected staff members have been notified. We are grateful that many of the departures were voluntary, and those individuals have made plans consistent with their professional and personal circumstances. Out of respect for their privacy, they have asked not to be singled out. We are deeply appreciative of their professionalism and their commitment to supporting the district during a very difficult moment.

All staff members impacted by the reduction in force have been informed that, should funding allow, the district intends to offer them the opportunity to return next school year.

Today and tomorrow, building administrators are adjusting schedules and staffing to ensure continuity of instruction and student support. Families in affected classrooms will receive direct communication outlining specific changes and next steps.

We are incredibly fortunate to have many experienced educators in our district who are ready and willing to step in and support students during this transition.

We would also like to sincerely thank the members of our community who have reached out to offer support. Volunteers who have expressed interest in assisting with recess and lunch coverage will be contacted soon, and we will be providing a brief library orientation to prepare you. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact your child’s school to be added to the list.

We are also grateful for the financial support from community members and local businesses, including those who sponsor the FHS Ambush. Your contributions have helped us continue essential extracurricular programming, including covering referee costs this winter.

Finally, please remember that our district participates in the “Lunch for All” program, which helps reduce student lunch debt. If you would like to contribute, you may do so here:

Thank you for your continued partnership, patience, and support as we navigate this challenging time together. Sincerely,

Giselle Pomeroy, Superintendent Designee, Farmington School District
