The Special Education Department at the Farmington School District is a system of educational support and services designed to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. We follow the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to ensure that eligible children, from birth to age 21, receive appropriate and individualized education. Farmington provides a range of special education programs and services, such as early intervention, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and behavioral interventions. These services are tailored to address specific challenges that students may face, promoting their academic, social, and emotional development. Collaboration between parents, educators, and various specialists is essential in the special education process. Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) are created for each eligible student, outlining their unique goals and objectives, as well as the necessary accommodations and modifications to support their learning. We are committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment, encouraging the integration of students with disabilities into regular classrooms whenever appropriate.
